August 30-31 - Scrapbooking

I really miss my monthly scrapbook days when we would get together and scrapbook. I have never been so far behind in my scrapbooking. I think I am over a year behind and it is becoming a bit overwhelming. I need to just take them time and do at least a few pages a month. Shanna and I got together Friday night and scrapbooked. It's always nice to hang out with my sister. It is becoming harder and harder to find the time, but we need to just do it. 

Me and the kids stayed the night at my mom's. I needed to help her with her computer, so I decided to stay the night and devote Saturday to helping her out. Her hard drive had gone bad, so we needed to get everything back on her computer and make sure it was all working again. It took most of Saturday morning to get everything where she knew where it was. Then I went over to my grandma's to help her with dropbox. I had uploaded some photos to dropbox and she was having a hard time getting them to show up in her dropbox account, so I told her I would just come and take a look at it.

Then I went back to my mom's and Maisie and I helped her put up corn. Maisie loves doing that kind of stuff and helping. She is a good little helper. (When she wants to be). We didn't leave to come home until later Saturday. It was good hanging out and helping my parents. 

Price

We had decided to go to Price to visit Eric's mom. We haven't been to Price since April. It just seems that life is so busy now that the kids are getting older. We didn't leave until Eric got home from work at 7:30. I hate leaving that late, but it was the only weekend that we didn't already have something planned. We got to Mary's about 10:45.

On Saturday, I got up and went for a run and then we hung out for awhile and then got ready for a good family friend's wedding, Mike Tollich. He got married at the park in Spring Glen and then had a wedding reception and dance at a building down the street from the park. It was good to see some friends we haven't seen in a while. We got home from the wedding about 9:00 and then we just relaxed and visited.

Sunday morning, bright and early, Travis and the girls came over to visit. They stayed for a couple of hours and then we left to come home about 12:00. I had a memorial service to go to for a friend of the college, Will Pitkin. Maisie went with me to the memorial service. It was very nice and it was great to hear stories of Will. He was an amazing man. Anyone that met him would consider him a friend. He was just that kind of a guy. 

We then went home and finished laundry and got ready for the week.

Parker Starts 1st Grade

My baby is growing up. Parker started 1st grade and loves it. He really enjoys school and loves to read and do homework. His favorite things to do is read books and do math homework. He has been known to make up his own math homework. His little brain is always thinking of numbers. There is not a day that goes by that he doesn't ask me some math equation. He will be sitting in the back seat of the car or laying in the bath tub and will as something like "Mom, is twelve take away three nine?" And he will go on and on. Parker is such a character. He loves to be a goof ball and make people laugh, but it has to be on his terms. Parker loves to play with toys. His favorite things to play with right now are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He still plays with his monster trucks, hot wheels, blocks, and his animals. He has quite the imagination. Oh and his tablet. He loves to play games on it. Parker has recently started Hip Hop dance and loves it. He looks forward to it every week and will have his first performance the first week in December. It will be so fun to see him all dressed up and show off his dance moves.

Maisie starts 5th grade

I can not believe my little Maisie Moo is starting 5th grade. It seems like just yesterday I was dropping her off for her first day of kindergarten. This will be her last year of school at Edith Bowen. It has been such a joy having her in school right next door to my work. She has been able to ride to work with me and home with me since she was in 1st grade. I will miss those car rides. Maisie was very excited to start 5th grade this year. It is fun to be the oldest grade in school. They seem to get to do a lot more things than the other grades. She lucked out and her best friends are in her class, Maddie, Olivia, & Sadie. Maisie has already kicked in her motherly instincts and is already worrying about leaving Parker all alone next year. She likes to keep in on task and she worries that he is going to get lost or forget to do things. Which is probably partially true, but I reassured her that he needs to grow up eventually. This is the only year they will be in all day school and attend the same school. Makes me a little sad that they won't be in the same school again. They enjoy looking out for each other or bossing each other around.

To my sweet Maisie, My beautiful Maisie Moo, you are turning into such a beautiful young lady. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing you home from the hospital, time has gone by way too fast and sometimes I wish I could just freeze time for a just a little bit. You are truly amazing and such a kind heart. You are always thinking of others and worry about their feelings. You are going to be such a great mother one day. Your dream is to one day be teacher. I really hope you follow your dream, cause you will be a great teacher one day. I love you with all of my heart and only hope and wish the best for you. Don't ever forget that. Love you, Mom

Fun Before School Starts

Maisie was determined to find a first day of school cutest shirt ever. Well of course there just wasn't anything cute enough in Logan, so I told her I would take her south and we could go to Gordman's and maybe a couple other stores. There just wasn't much out there. We found one shirt at Gordman's and one at Ross. 

I dropped off some scrapbook pages to be printed at Costco and then we ate at Applebee's. We originally had planned to go to Seven Peak's, but my friend Michelle was on her way there and she said that the parking was about a mile away and they were really busy, so I convinced the kids that we would go to the Brigham City pool, before heading to grandma Julander's for grandparents night. I picked up my scrapbook pages at Costco and did a little bit of shopping there and then we headed to the pool. The kids only got to swim for about an hour and then we headed to my mom's. I had told my mom I would come help her with all the kids since my dad was out of town. My parents periodically will have grandparents night, so the parents can go out on a date. The kids swam in her pool and we had dinner. The kids always have a great time playing with their cousins.

Grandma & Grandpa Hendrickson's 60th Wedding Anniversary

If there are two people I look up to, it is my grandparents. They are such amazing individuals. There love for each other is amazing and can be felt by all. They had their 60th Wedding Anniversary in June (?), but were able to celebrate it with their kids the first week in August. They invited all those that could come to their house for cake and ice cream. My grandpa had called me a couple of weeks ago wondering if I would be willing to take a few pictures of them and their kids. It was great to see everyone and visit with them.

August 9 - Camping

Our last camping trip before school starts. We hope to go a couple more times, but the kids start school in 10 days. I can not believe the summer is coming to an end. It has gone by so fast. Maisie and Parker have enjoyed their summer. For the most part, they have stayed home and loved being lazy. In the evenings, they run around the neighborhood with all the neighbor kids. They get along so well with all of them. I love that the neighborhood is filled with kids their age.

Eric and the kids went up the canyon earlier in the day on Friday. I drove up after work so I could come home for work on Monday. When I got up there Maisie and I decided to go on hike/walk up a four-wheeler road for 2 miles. I made chicken stir-fry for dinner and then we enjoyed an evening around the fire.

Saturday morning after breakfast, I talked Maisie into going on a bike ride. Round trip it ended up being about 3.5 miles. I was able to push her to keep going until it started to be all up hill. She did a really good job keeping up. Later that afternoon, we decided to go down the canyon and do the Limber Pine Trail which is 1.3 miles round trip and then drove down to Bear Lake for some yummy shakes. We learned from the last time, to get small shakes. Which was the perfect size. We did some exploring around the mountain and checked out where some of the roads go and then went back to camp to try cooking ribs again. This time around they turned out really good and we didn't burn them. The key was cooking them on top of tin-foil, so the grease didn't start another fire. They took a while to cook, but they were really good when they were down.

Eric practiced throwing a ball back and forth to Parker working on his catching skills. 

Parker couldn't decide if he wanted to come home with me on Sunday or not. He kept going back and forth whether he wanted to stay or go with me. What it boiled down to is he didn't want dad to make him eat a hamburger for dinner. I finally just told him he was coming home with me. We left Sunday about 12:00, so we could go home and shower and get ready to go to my Grandma and Grandpa Hendrickson's for their 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration.

Maisie and Eric came home Monday morning. They got home about 10:00.
