Friday, January 31

Earlier this week Maisie’s friend Olivia dropped off a birthday invite. She was having a “GLAM” birthday party. As part of her invitation she included glamorous pajamas to wear to the birthday party. Such a cute fun idea. Olivia’s birthday party was at her house from 6 - 9 p.m. Parker had been begging me all week to have a play date with his friend Karson, so I thought while Maisie was at the birthday party Parker could have a play date. We made the arrangements with Karson’s mom that I would pick him up and return him back home. We dropped Maisie off at the birthday party and then headed to Karson’s house. Parker was sitting in the back seat and he says to me, “I am so excited and nervous. I’ve never had a play date before.” It was so cute. He thought he was all big having his first friend from school over to our house. They played really well and had a great time. We dropped him off at his house and then went and picked up Maisie. Maisie had a fun time at the birthday party. They had a glam photo shoot, made mini pinatas, and played Just Dance.

Parker's owie at school

I got a call from Gaylene from Parker's school today about 12:30. I just happen to not take a lunch cause I was finishing a project.  Gaylene says, "Parker needs a hug from his mom." He had been sledding on the hill on the playground and went too far and hit the sidewalk with the side of his face.  I walked in the office and he had a wet paper towel on his face.  He got a pretty good scrape on the left side of his face,  but he's going to be just fine.  He just needed a little hug from his momma. It made me happy. I'm glad he still needs me.  I asked him if he was ready to go back to class.  He headed out the door and off to class he went.  He barely said bye to me.  I love being next door to my kids.  I will be so sad next year when Maisie isn't so close.

On the way home ,  Maisie and I tried talking Parker into telling his dad he got in a fight and that he needed to say , you should see the other guy , he said he wanted to tell the truth.  That's my boy.  Tell the truth.

Crazy Tuesday

The kids started swimming lessons today.  Maisie is in level 6 and Parker is in level 3. I have them in lessons here on campus.  It makes it very convenient. They walk over to my office at 4:45 from after school club, grab their swim stuff and head over to the HPER building, which is on the other side of my building, they get changed and I met them over there to watch them.  Tonight we also have Parker's dance class.  So in between swim lessons and dance, we grab a bite to eat, and then head to dance and Maisie and I go to Zumba at the Logan Rec Center. We will finally make it home about 8. Makes for a long evening but my kids are troopers.

January 13, 2014

January 13, 2014

I joined dietbet.com this year to help with my motivation of losing weight. It is an on-line competition that as long as you lose their required percentages of weight loss you get part of the pot. I joined two different ones. One is just one month and the other is 6 months. It cost $25 per month, but as long as you reach the monthly end percentages you should be able to get back what you put in and probably more. So far so good. I know if I work really hard I can totally do it. I am following the Weight Watchers simply filling plan. The plan is that as long as you eat simply filling foods you don't have to track them. You just track the foods that are not simply filling. I think I will like it, cause I have a hard time tracking. It at least is something different for right now.

I starting going back to the Logan Rec Center. I really enjoy doing fitness group classes. On Monday's and Wednesday's I go to the power toning class and on Tuesday and Thursday I go to the Zumba class. Last week I also went on Friday to Zumba and I will most likely go on Saturday mornings to Zumba. I like Zumba even though I am not a dancer. Anyone can shake their booty.

Maisie gets braces

January 6, 2014

Maisie finally got braces. I say this because she originally was suppose to get them back in October, but we had to postpone it because we found out Eric's insurance wasn't set to cover braces. Thankfully, we were able to change it effective January 1. She was excited but nervous. She really just wanted to get them on so that she could begin the process and get it over with. Although, it is a long journey, it will be worth it in the end to have a beautiful perfect smile. I think she looks absolutely beautiful strutting her new braces. She looks like she has had them on forever. The first week has been hard cause her teeth are really sensitive, but she is getting use to them everyday.

She looks so cute with her new braces.

New Year's Resolutions

I have a hard time understanding why it is that changing from one year to another brings about new too improve ourselves. Why can't we just wake up one morning and decide to make these changes? I am guilty of this, I wait until the new year to set goals I would like to achieve, but it bugs me that I don't try to achieve these goals ahead of time. Oh well, it is what it is. Here are a couple of things I would like to work on this year:

1. Keep my blog more up-to-date. Although I have gotten much better the last couple of years, I would like to write on a more frequent basis, so I can document more day-to-day stuff rather than going back and trying to remember things. Also, write about the good the bad and the ugly. Just not all the fun stuff we do.
2. As always, lose a little bit of weight. I would like to to lose about 15 pounds this year, but my overall goal is to make eating healthier and exercising a daily habit, so that every year I am not doing this again. I would also like my kids and hubby to get in the habit of wanting healthier foods rather than junk food.
3. Realize what my needs are rather than my wants. In most cases, my wants always turn in to needs. I wish I was a much more frugal person, but we/I have gotten in the habit that if I want something, I just go get it.
4. Have more patience with my kids. I need to spend more time just enjoying the moments. They are growing up way too fast. I just need to enjoy this stage in their life.

Back to work

January 2, 2014

After a wonderful 12 day holiday break, it was time to come back to work. Thank goodness it was only for two days before the weekend. It was still pretty quiet and a great way to ease back into working. I enjoy working, but I also enjoy nice little breaks. Makes me sad to realize that I have to wait another year before we get another break like that. I had a great time spending the break with family and friends. Here's to a new year.
