6th Grade Homework
WOW! On the 3rd day of school, Maisie had five hours of homework. I was amazed by her patience and diligence to get it done. We had no melt downs, but I am not sure how much I can handle that much homework. I might have a melt down. If the year continues like this, I am not sure I will have time to get my homework done. She is doing great and so far loves 6th grad at Spring Creek Middle School.

Trip to Price - August 22nd
We made a quick trip to Price for the weekend. Eric really wanted to get his Monte Carlo started for the neighbor who is buying it and also we were picking up a tool box from Cody. We didn't get to leave until Eric got home from work at 7:30 and it rained the whole way down, so it took us until 11:00 to get to his mom's. I really hate driving/riding in the dark. There was some type of race or event going on in Spanish Fork canyon, which I thought was totally crazy to be riding/running through that canyon at 10:30 at night. It is a scary enough canyon in the daylight. It slowed us down quite a bit. There was a cop escorting one biker and he was going about 10 MPH and we were stuck behind him for a good 10 minutes. We finally made it safe and sound. We visited with Eric's mom for a little bit and then we were ready for bed.
Saturday after lunch we hooked up with Cody and Lexi and went to their house and had BBQ. It was good seeing them and having time to visit. We were sad we didn't get to spend more time with the family. I realized that we haven't been to Price since New Year's Eve. Way too long. It is hard to believe it has been that long. It is so hard as the kids get bigger and now that I am in schooling our weekends just fill up too fast and it is hard to get away.
Sunday, Mary cooked us breakfast and then her and Maisie went to K-mart to exchange a shirt she had bought her. When they got back about 1:00 we were on our way home. We stopped at Costco in Spanish Fork, Cabela's and then Popeyes for dinner. We didn't get home until 6:30. It was a mad dash to mow the lawn and get laundry done for the week.
We had a great weekend and I am so glad we made it work. We need to keep the distance between visits shorter next time.

Camping - August 8 - 11
I took Friday and Monday off for one last long camping trip before school starts. We went to our usual spot up Logan Canyon at Temple Peak. It has become one of our favorite spots and it is relatively close to home. It takes about an hour to get there. It is just beautiful and pretty quiet. There are usually a lot of campers, but there is plenty of room so it doesn't feel overly crowded. We left shortly after Eric got home Friday morning. We did stop at Wal-mart on the way. We got up the canyon and had camp set up by about 11. There were a few trailers ups there in our usually spots, so we pulled into the first one which has the watering hole for the cows. The cows were very entertaining for the weekend. We didn't do much Friday because we were all so tired.
Saturday afternoon our friends Brandon & Brittany and Shantelle came to visit for a couple of hours. After they left, we decided to go for a drive to see if we could see any animals. We pulled over and went for a short hike and shot the 22 pistol. Parker is a pretty good shot. He could hit the target most of the time. He is going to be our little hunter. When we got back to the truck the kids jumped in the back. Eric thought it would be fun to do a little donut in the truck. Well it didn't end up being so fun. Parker went flying across the back of the truck and hit the side of his face. Eric felt so bad afterwards, he thought the kids would think it was fun but apparently they weren't prepared for that. Definitely won't do that again. We continued on our little drive up towards Temple Flat. We want to camp there sometime. It is a nice open area, but is further up the canyon. We drove up another road there for a ways, but weren't sure were it ended up so we turned around. When we got back to camp we could dinner and sat around the fire and then went to bed.
Sunday, we went for drive to Bear Lake. We first stopped at Ace Hardware to look for an axe, but ended up getting a blinker light bulb for the truck. Then we went to Bloomington Lake. I have heard of several people loving Bloomington and we have never been. It is northwest of Bear Lake. It took us about an hour to get there. We got caught in a cattle move. That was fun. Finally the nice cowboys guided us through the herd of cows. Once we finally got there we took a half mile hike to the lake. It was really beautiful, but freezing. It is a glacier fed lake, so it is pretty cold year round. We stayed for a little bit and then hiked back to the truck and went to Bear Lake. We stopped at the Chevron on the way back to camp and got a shake. When we got back to camp we had some intruders sleeping in our camp. Apparently the cows thought we were in their space. They weren't happy to have to move. All the trailers that were in camp had gone home. It felt weird being the only ones there. Later a couple of trucks came and dropped off their trailers. We built a fire and cooked pizza for dinner. After dinner we chased a few cows and then went for a hike up the hill to check out possible camp sites we could camp at in the future. Now that we have the fifth wheel we have to plan were we can fit.
Monday, we got up and ate a quick breakfast and then packed to go home. We didn't get home until about 12:30. Eric did so good backing the trailer into the driveway. He even had to maneuver around the neighbors trailer that was parked in street across from us. Maisie and I were so proud. I thinking we equally get stressed out about helping back the trailer in. Maisie also did not feel well. She woke up Sunday morning with a bad sore throat.
After unpacking the trailer and starting on the laundry, Eric, Parker, and I went into town and went to Home Depot for a shovel and McDonalds for lunch. Maisie stayed home cause she didn't feel like eating. Later, Eric and I ended up pulling a bunch of weeds and puncher weeds along the border of our yard and the neighbors. It is very frustrating that not only do we have to deal with our weeds we have to deal with the neighbors. They never take care of the weeds along their long driveway. It just becomes a long patch of weeds. And their dog poop always on our lawn. I think they trained their dogs to poop in our yard. There is a reason why we don't have dogs. They have their house for sale and can't wait for them to move and hoping for better neighbors without dogs.

August 7, 2014 - School Shopping
Maisie has been begging to go school shopping with her cousin Madison. We finally were able to find a day that we could make a quick trip. After work, I ran home and got the kids and then we met them in Brigham City and jumped in Misty's car and went to Ogden. We first ate at Applebee's and then went over to Gordman's. The girls had so much fun trying on different outfits. They found some cute clothes and were pretty happy. Parker was such a trooper and so patient while we shopped.
We took so long that by the time we were done at Gordman's everything else was closed, so we went for dessert at Farr's.
I think shopping was a success and the girls were pleased with their purchases.

Today was a little crazy at work. We are all gearing up for the semester to start in a couple of weeks. I got my final back from my Psy 1730 class and got 100 on it. I was so excited. I have really enjoyed this class and have learned a lot that will hopefully help me throughout my college career. It is nice to have my summer classes done and get a couple of weeks off before fall starts.
After work, I cooked a pizza for dinner and then we went to Gordon's to pick up our trailer. I am always nervous about Eric backing it into the driveway and I get major anxiety anticipated the process. Eric had me pull the trailer home to get practice before going to the house we went into the church parking lot to attempt to back it up. I did pretty good for my first time, but still really nervous and don't know quite know how to get the trailer and truck to do what I want it to.
I remember when we got our first trailer it was the same way. It took about a year for Eric to get comfortable back it up and then he got so good at it. It is just going to take time and he will be a pro. It is nice to have it back in the driveway. My house looks naked with it parked next to it. After we got everything settled I went for a walk with Giselle. The evenings are so nice right now and with no homework to do, we decided for the next couple of weeks we are going walking in the evenings instead of the mornings.

Innocent Parker
Parker calls me today at work with a his cute little horse voice from just waking up. The conversation went like this.
Parker: Mom!
Me: What?
Parker: I am really sick.
Me: What's wrong?
Parker: I have the awww choos.
Me: Laughing. The awww choos?
Parker: Yeah! You know what you get when you sneeze.
Me: Still laughing. Parker you are so dang funny.
I could not get over his cuteness. I am still laughing over this. I had to tell Eric and Maisie and they both it was so dang funny. He was so worried about eating cereal cause he thought boogers would go in his cereal. He is growing up so dang fast and will miss this cute little innocence.

Sunday Walk
The kids and I enjoyed a nice Sunday walk along the Logan River walk. It is a really nice shaded trail that goes along the Logan river and the golf course. The kids played in the water for a little bit and loved every minute of it. We need to do this more often. Here's a cute picture I took along the trail. Aren't they the cutest?
