August 9-14, 2012 - Gary & Mary Visit

Sallie's son, Gary, and his girlfriend, Mary, came to visit. They were here from Wednesday afternoon to Wednesday morning. Eric and Gary have become really good friends and when they come to visit we spend a lot of time with them. We had dinner Friday night at Sallie's. She cooked elk steaks and I took fried peppers and french bread, and pink stuff fruit salad (Pink Stuff is the name Jerry gave it). We had a good dinner and good company. Saturday they had a family reunion in Preston and then later that day we went to the Cache County Fair and rodeo. We only lost Parker once at the fair. He didn't see that we had turned around and kept walking. We panicked for a minute knowing that he has a horrible sense of direction. (He gets this from his father). All I had to do was walk a little further down the line of booths and he was talking to a nice lady that was going to help him find his parents. We had a good time at the rodeo. During the bull riding it was pretty intense with almost ever bull rider getting injured. I do not like watching people get hurt.

Sunday I worked on editing pictures most of the day and then me and the kids went to my parents for dinner. Eric wanted to spend time with Gary, so he had dinner over there. When we got home we went over for a little bit before going home.

Monday, I took the day off work and we went over to Bear Lake and went through Minnetonka Cave and had lunch in Garden City. When we got home Eric mowed the lawn and then we went over to Sallie's. Gary had to fix a door that his dog, Roscoe, had chewed through. He does not like being left home alone.

Tuesday night, we had another BBQ and enjoyed visiting for the last night before they left Wednesday morning. We had a great time spending time with them. It's always nice having great friends and neighbors.

August 4, 2012 - Ride with Sallie to Winnemucca, NV

Sallie asked me a couple of weeks ago if I would be interested in riding with her to Winnemucca, NV to pick up her grandson, Jerry, who has been in California for the summer spending time with his Mom & Dad. It's a long boring drive and I can see how you would want someone to ride with to keep you company. We left at about 7:30 a.m. and got back to Logan about 8:30 p.m. We arrived in Winnemucca at about 12:30 went to the grocery store and then ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Just as we finished lunch Jerry arrived with his dad and uncle. We then headed back to home. We had good conversation and other than being a long day, it really wasn't that bad. My mom watch the kids overnight and was willing to meet us in Riverside to bring the kids back to me, so we didn't have to back track and pick them up. The kids were excited to see Jerry (Jer Bear). Parker sure likes to tease him by calling him Jer Bear. Jerry was excited to be back home to Nibley.

August 3, 2012 - Tiffani & Kasey's Wedding

Today I took Tiffani and Kasey's wedding pictures at the Logan Temple. I took the day off of work so that I could spend the day focusing on capturing their special day. Everything went well and couldn't have been more perfect. They had their luncheon at the USU Institute building. Later that evening me and the kids went to their reception in Brigham at The Lodge. The kids went home with my parents and stayed the night since I was riding with Sallie to Winnemucca, NV to pick up her grandson, Jerry, in the morning.

I have had a crazy couple of weeks with taking pictures. I have photographed 5 sessions in the last two weeks. I have a couple weeks of editing to do, but then I don't have any planned photo shoots for a month or so.

July 27-29, 2012 - Cabin/Steve & Misty's Wedding

A couple of weeks ago my cousin Steve called and asked if I would be interested in taking pictures at his wedding at the cabin. I had to move a few things around, but got everything arranged so I could go. It was a quick trip, but a lot of fun. We weren't able to leave until Eric got home at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, so we didn't get to the cabin until 1:30 a.m. Shanna met us in Brigham City and rode with us. I think we drove Eric crazy because we talked the whole way down. He can not understand how women have so much to talk about. Maisie had gone down the day before with grandma and grandpa. It had been raining all day on friday and somebody was nice enough to set up our tent so we didn't have to do it in the dark. We nestled into bed about 2:00 a.m. We got up, ate breakfast, and decided to got to Barney Lake and go fishing for a little while. We piled in the trucks and drove over there. My dad caught a 22 inch tiger muskie. It took awhile to get it in, but was a beauty once we got it on the bank. Of course, once we got back to the cabin and it was getting closer to the wedding it started pouring and lightning. The thunderstorms scare me at the cabin because we are on top of the mountain. The thunder and lightning turned to a downpour of hail. I was freaking out a bit, thinking how in the world was I suppose to take pictures of an outdoor wedding in a hail storm. At just about 4:00, when the wedding was suppose to start, it let up a little bit and they were able to carry on as planned. Steve and Misty rode in on horses and got married on the horses. It was so beautiful and romantic. Loved that it wasn't your traditional way of getting married. The wedding party was moved into the cabin where dinner was served and dancing and socializing went on. We had a lot of fun and they look so happy.

We left Sunday about noon. We stopped at Fitzgerald Park on the mountain and took pictures of our "TREE". The one with our names carved in it. Then we stopped at the Monroe Park and ate lunch. When we got home the second we walked in the house I noticed a musty smell and Eric says, "It is hot in here." Not what you expect to come home to. An non-working air conditioner. Makes me realize how spoiled we are. That stressed us out a little and made us all edgy. We dug out the fans and went to sleep. Monday morning I called the repair guy and he had it fixed by 10:30. Thankfully it was an inexpensive part.

July 23-24, 2012 - BRC Celebration

We went over to my parent's Monday night and watch the movie in the park, Despicable Me. They had some technical difficulties and it took them a while to get the movie going, but once they got it going we enjoyed watching the movie outdoors. We spent the night since we were running the 5k in the morning. Me, Eric, and Maisie, Shanna & Chase, Josh, Kirsten, & Dylan, & Kyle all ran the 5k. Everyone did really well. Maisie was a bit emotional when she finished. Eric was kind enough to walk/ran with her. By the end she was a bit exhausted and the emotions hit her. Later that day she found out she took 3rd place in her age group. That made it all worth it. We ate yummy breakfast at the park and then spent most of the day enjoying the festivities. A bunch of the family played in the volleyball tournament. I think the Julander's took 2nd place. We had to leave at 4:00 because I was taking Tiffani & Kasey's formal pictures. The weather ended up being perfect for pictures. We started at Old Main Hill and then lucked out and were able to get on the Temple grounds. Then we headed out to Petersboro and took some photos in the wheat fields and the marina. I am so happy for them. They are so happy and in love. It is so fun to be around a new fresh couple.

July 13 - 16 - Twin Falls/Shoshone Falls

I am so glad that we bought our trailer last year. It has sure been fun having little mini vacations and seeing and doing things that we would not be doing otherwise. We went to Twin Falls and had a very relaxing weekend. We stayed at the Anderson RV park. It was a really nice campground. The kids were really excited because of the swimming pool. We arrived about 7:30 and the kids couldn't wait to get in the pool. Saturday Sallie decided to come up and spend the day with us. She got there about 10:00 and we headed into Twin Falls to see Shoshone Falls. They were beautiful. We walked around the trails and saw different views of the Falls. Just as we were getting ready to leave it decided to rain. I am so glad we got there when we did, because it didn't stop raining for quite awhile. We had lunch at the Elevation 356 restaurant. The restaurant was on the edge of the canyon with the Perrine Bridge in the distance. The food was really good. Afterwards we drove across the Perrine Bridge. Sallie and I sat in the truck because it was raining too hard. The kids and Eric ran across it, but hurried back. We went back to the trailer and just relaxed and visited for awhile. Sallie left about 7:00 to head back home. The kids and I went swimming for a little bit. It was a little cold, but they didn't care.

Sunday we went back into Twin Falls and went back to the Perrine Bridge. It was a beautiful day and I am so glad we went back. The bridge is amazing. We walked across it and visited the visitor's center. We were lucky enough to watch some base jumpers jump off the bridge. It looks so scary, but must be worth it because once they jump off the bridge they have a long hike to get back up to the top. We spent a good hour just walking around the bridge and enjoying the scenery. On the way back to our campground we decided to stop at the movie theater and see Ice Age 4. It was a cute movie. After leaving the movie theater, there were a bunch of emergency vehicles that went flying by us. As we got closer to our campground, we noticed there was a really bad accident. We later found out that one of the ladies in the accident was killed. It is so scary to think that life can end so quickly.

Of course, the kids had to swim again. We spent the rest of the day just relaxing. It was kind of nice spending the weekend not doing a whole lot. We left Monday late morning and got home with enough time to put our stuff away and relax before going back to work.

July 3-5, 2012 - Hendrickson Family Reunion

I am so grateful for family reunions that bring the family together. This year it was my Aunt Becky's turn to organize the family reunion. Because the family is spread out, Bear River City seemed to be a good central location. Aunt Becky reserved the Bear River City park for a couple of days. We decided to pull our trailer over to the park and stay a couple of nights. We drove over Tuesday evening. Most everyone arrived sometime on Wednesday. We had dinner together and visited with everyone. Later we went to Brigham to watch the fireworks. Thursday was kind of cloudy and rained off and on, but we still had a great time. The kids still got wet and played in the water. Some went on canoe rides down the Bear River. After dinner we took some family pictures and then had a family program. It was really nice seeing and visiting with everyone. I think out of 114 people there were 99 there. We all had a great time and so glad that everyone made the time to get together.
